Describe and give examples of the basic activities that take place in transaction processing cycles.
Explain how data is captured and entered into a data processing system.
Explain how data is stored in computer systems and describe the types of files and their uses.
Explain how data files are maintained and the approaches used to maintain them.
Explain how information can be organized and presented to help users fulfill their responsibilities.
Design coding systems for simple data processing applications.
Understand how general ledger packages operate, using Paccioli as an example.

POST CLASS ASSIGNMENTS:

DO In your packet is Computer Lab Assignment #2 and an abbreviated tutorial for the Paciolli 2000 software program. As a group, obtain a copy of the software from the 3rd floor computer lab, install it on a computer (not one of the lab's), and complete the Warren Inc. case. The case involves setting up a chart of accounts, initiating the account balances, recording the transaction data provided in the case, generating the financial statements, and then answering a few questions. The case is due in class on Sept. 7.

DO Computer Lab Assignment #1 (DOS) is due on September 3.
